M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit a professional and evidence-driven person for a vacancy in the Surgery Division, as the Urologist.

Reporting to the Head of Department Surgery, the overall purpose of this job is to attend to patients who are presented to the surgery department, make important decisions regarding their immediate management/ considerations/referrals and take general responsibility for the day-to-day running of the department.

Responsibility

1) Strategy, policy and processes implementation - Oversee the department by providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective surgery strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies and ensure sustainable growth of the department.
2) Quality Assurance - Provide guidance and facilitate the development and implementation of quality assessment plans by monitoring the overall quality of the total testing process and ensuring continuous improvement of the surgery’s performance and services. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintained.
3) Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilization and other specialized procedures in order to provide curative services in line with established protocols and promote patient centricity including providing clinical support during emergencies including resuscitation, admission, discharge or referral to the appropriate consultants and units.
4) Contribute to the departmental clinical quality assurance system, including regular clinical audit, review of patient care (length of patient stay, mortality and morbidity reviews, audit, regular clinical meetings) to ensure quality to services provided to patients.
5) Lead in clinical audit and proactive risk management and facilitate production of all data/information required for same in accordance with regulatory, statutory and corporate policies and procedures.
6) Research and Development - Actively involved in a wide range of research and development initiative areas and create awareness of the hospital as having research programs that are at the forefront of science in patient care.
7) Facilitate the provision of safety conditions by monitoring physical and environmental conditions in the hospital to ensure safety from physical, chemical and biological hazards
8) Work with the established consultants/specialist to ensure equitable provision of surgery services across the whole of the hospital. This will include collaborative working, mutual cover for annual and study leave, and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance
9) Administrative and Management Responsibilities- Provide effective and efficient management and administration services including budget planning and control, manpower and resource planning to ensure smooth running of the department
10) Learning and Development – Support learning and development initiatives by identity skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for the medical and surgery staff. Plan and direct learning and development appropriate to the department.

Qualifications

1) Masters in medicine or equivalent qualification in the field of Surgery from a recognized institution.
2) Bachelors’ Degree in Medicine and Bachelors in Surgery from a recognized institution.
3) Must have valid membership and hold a valid practicing license in the relevant field from Board.
4) Minimum of 5 years working experience with 2 years at senior management level in the healthcare sector.
