Medical Officer – Paediatrics

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Paediatrics, in the Medical Services Division, the job holder will provide immediate attendance, care and timely management to ensure effective delivery of quality health care to patients.

Responsibility

1. Admissions – Will be the first point of contact with patients and will initiate management for patients whilst undertaking clerking and ensuring accurate and efficient diagnosis.
2. Monitoring and care for patients - Will work hand in hand with other hospital staff to ensure daily review of patients, check up on progress and flag aspects of patient progress that need further evaluation in providing holistic patient care.
3. Assessing and planning treatment requirements: Undertake daily review of patients and their medication or laboratory indicators as well as assessing the impact of the same on clinical progress.
4. Execution of treatment plans: Work with consultants in daily ward rounds to execute plans put in place, including running laboratory samples, organizing for imaging, analysing of results, appraising consultants in charge and executing additional plans of management.

Qualifications

1. A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from an accredited medical institution.
2. At least 2 years’ relevant experience in a hospital setting.
3. A valid EPALS/PALS certification is required.
4. Must be computer literate.
5. Should also possess/demonstrate the below competencies:

• Interpersonal skills
• Patient centricity
