Job description

M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit a professional, and evidence driven person for a vacancy in the Patient Services Division as a Billing Coordinator.

Reporting to the Team Leader Inpatient/outpatient, the position holder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of billing operations throughout the hospital, accurate record keeping and verification of documents and maintain validity of charging and stock management functions in the hospital. The position requires someone who is efficient and professional working with the highest degree of integrity.

Responsibility

1. Maintain and protect the accuracy and reliability of billing operations by ensuring accurate and complete billing of items, monitoring and billing of daily doctor’s fee notes and all medical procedures for patients and verification of complete records reporting any missing codes to the billing manager for creation immediately.
2. Maintain the validity and accuracy of the hospitals records by performing verification checks for patients insurance details before registration, confirming that all documents are in order before any final patient discharge procedures and confirming that paper records and digital records tally.
3. Facilitate the streamlining of operations by ensuring pre-authorization of patients covered under insurance schemes are completed & sent promptly, follow up response is received within 24 hours and follow up of extension letters is done regularly and before discharge of the patient.
4. Promote synergy and collaborative teamwork in the department by ensuring close liaison between nursing teams and other staff and that there is continuous and smooth hand-over between shifts.
5. Promote a positive customer experience to all internal and external clients by working with the utmost integrity and respect when engaging with clients, courteously responding to any queries and offering assistance when needed.
6. Developing self- Drive continuous development of self by enrolling in career and personal development courses / programme, actively sharing lessons and insights with the rest of the team from personal experiences, and engaging with the line manager regularly for feedback on performance.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related field.
2. Professional qualifications from either CPA -Part II or ACCA Part II be an added advantage.
3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in billing or a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
4. Proficiency in IT and familiarity with medical billing software are essential.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with patients, insurance providers, and hospital staff.
