Job description

The purpose of the job is to carry out full range of dental examinations care and related procedures to the hospital’s patients in line with established protocols

Work Environment:

Job Hazards: The jobholder is exposed to potential contamination from infectious specimens and fumes toxic reagents

Responsibility

1.Consultation- Ask questions regarding patient’s ailments, history, symptoms, discomfort or pain in order to understand patient’s condition. Recommend test in order to further clarify patient’s condition and disease
2.Report writing – Prepare a structured medical report for each patient capturing background information of ailment, medical history, physical examination, and specimen obtained and suggested treatment.
3.File patient files – Maintain patient files and undertake continuous monitoring and regular evaluation of the project activities.
4.Diagnosis – Assess collected information and test. Utilize medical knowledge and expertise to establish a diagnosis.
5.Treatment - Compiles and analyzes data collected from dental surveys, dental care programs, patient-related records, or patient records to evaluate quality of service received by patients
6.Health and Safety- Comply with established health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances
7.Advise patients Health - Educate and counsel on improve health and prevent disease and interventions or treatments that treat risk factors.
8.Training – Train graduate trainees , dental assistants undertaking their post medical training.

Qualifications

•Bachelor of Dental Surgery or its equivalent
•Practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council.
•A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a similar position
